AI presents its 2023 Access50 listing of the world’s biggest access equipment rental companies, ranked by fleet size.

Access International has published its 2023 Access50 list of the biggest rental companies in the world, ranked by the size of their access equipment rental fleets.

This year the annual ranking, which also breaks down rental fleets by equipment types, saw the global number of MEWPs for rental reach a massive 1,194, 378 units, up 9.5% from 1,090,112 machines in 2022.

The increase is in part reflective of the growth of the aerial platform market in key regions such as North America and Asia, where MEWPS are becoming increasingly popular with both construction contractors and service providers.

While the past year has been heavily impacted by supply chain issues, the war in Ukraine and rising inflation, rental companies in both Europe and North America have seen steady growth in 2023.

And although the market over the past 12 months was not as buoyant as it was in 2022, there was still growth and, with the promise of a vast number of construction projects going forward the foundations for another boom period in 2024 have been laid.

That said, the 2023 Access50 ranking has seen significant changes - particularly in the top 10, which has seen a major shakeup as a result of new entries.
