Scaffolding manufacturer and distributor StepUp Scaffold is now the exclusive North American distributor of Nordic Platform AirSteps composite decks and accessories.

Composite scaffolding solutions have gradually emerged on the European market over the past eight years and are moving to mainstream use as environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations increasingly influence corporate procurement strategies and decision-making.

“It all started with a genuine concern for both the environment and the health and safety of scaffolders,” said Mose Jakobsen, CEO of Nordic Platform. “Back when we started developing our composite decks no one in the business had ever heard of ESG compliance. It just made sense for a lot of practical reasons.”

The Glasgow-based subsidiary, StepUp Scaffold, UK, has successfully been testing and participating with Nordic Platform in the development of the emerging market for composite equipment for several years. Now the parties have entered a strategic partnership to provide composite decking to North America through StepUp Scaffold headquartered in Memphis.

Practical and environmental advantages

StepUp Scaffold European Director Knud Højland has been following development of Nordic Platform closely over the past decade and points out several benefits in the North American market for the strategic partnership.

“The development of the first composite decks back in 2012 to 2014 and subsequent launch in 2015 was a bold and innovative move. Ten years and more than half a million decks later it has passed the test of time in Europe, and today it serves as a perfect solution for sustainability-conscious companies, that additionally reduces heavy lifting by scaffolding workers,” said Højland.

Customizable

The AirStep platform line is its versatility. It can be produced in a wide variety of colors and can be imprinted with customized logos. The benefit here is that the scaffold installer can promote their company with every quality project. It makes every single project highly visible and additionally reduces theft considerably.
