Zoomlion shows ‘world’s biggest’ telescopic boom

Chinese OEM Zoomlion said its new 82.3m working height boom - claimed to be the largest ever - will be available worldwide in six months. The ZT82J, launched this week at Bauma China, is currently undergoing site trials before being made available initially to Chinese customers.

The massive machine offers a maximum outreach of 34.1m. It weighs 48.5t and is powered by a Cummins F4.5 engine. Stowed dimensions are 17.5m (L) by 2.8m (W) by 3.33m (height).

The launch follows the introduction of a 68m working height machine at the last Bauma China show in 2020.

“We have interest in the machine from customers in India and the Middle East”, said Bryan Zhang, regional sales manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, speaking to Access International at Bauma China.

“In particular it is suited for work at oil and gas and refineries.” He added that customers could include both rental companies and end users.

Zhang said the machine on show in Shanghai was a prototype, with the possibility that some components could be changed before its commercial launch.

Zoomlion also used the exhibition to extend its range of telehandlers, with new 4t/18m and 4.5t/25m models, the latter being its first ever rotating telehandler, the 4525R.

The first two days of the show have been notable for very high attendance, despite the slowdown in the Chinese contruction sector.
