Warren Access celebrates 10 years with new depot

UK-based Warren Access has expanded into a larger, state-of-the-art depot in the south England, marking 10 years in the area.

The new premises includes a purpose-built training centre with fully equipped training rooms and dedicated indoor and outdoor training spaces for practical modules.

Towards the end of 2011, Warren had been looking to expand its business from one depot to two. The search for a suitable location commenced, with Cumbria initially a strong contender, until the company settled on Cambridgeshire.

At the time, the plan was to open an IPAF Training Centre in the area. Then the company came into contact with Access Platform Sales (APS), which was looking to sell its Height for Hire rental side of its business.

At the end of February 2013 Warren officially took ownership of Height for Hire’s fleet of scissors, booms and truck mounted platforms, along with APS’s accredited IPAF and PASMA training operation. It followed the merger of APS with parts specialist IPS on the same day - now known as the IAPS Group.

Expanding business

The original premises at Leewood Works in Upton, shared with APS, served the company well for five years, but its expanding fleet and range of training courses led it to a new depot in Hartford in Huntingdon in the summer of 2018.

Then, just before Christmas last year, Warren Access moved out of the second, and into its new third depot based in Abbots Ripton Estate. Offering a variety of IPAF and PASMA training courses, the most popular is the IPAF MEWP Operator (Cat 1b, 3a, 3b) and PASMA Towers for Users.

Warren Access Huntingdon is owned by Managing Director Graeme Warren, Director Michelle Warren and Operations Manager Nikki Hill. Thanking their team of “amazing” of colleagues at the depot, Michelle warren said, “The last 10 years has been a journey of highs and lows and everything that comes in between with running a business.

“It was our first big venture opening a second depot and the acquisition was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done, but it’s definitely been worthwhile. We make a great team and Nikki is a fabulous Operations Manager. “Between us, we get through everything that life in powered access has to throw in our direction.”
