By Lindsey Anderson12 March 2021
Serious Labs, based in Edmonton, Alberta, is a provider of virtual reality solutions for MEWP and heavy equipment training and operation. The company’s mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) VR simulators and models have been implemented by companies and organizations around the world, including United Rentals, Bechtel, DOW, Syncrude, the U.S. Department of Energy, Shell, Singapore International Airport, British Airways, Rapid Access, Loxam, Riwal and Nationwide Platforms.
Over the last year, the company reached major milestones – IPAF approved the use of Serious Labs’ simulators for its PAL+ training; a partnership was formed with Align JV to provide MEWP simulator assessments at jobsites for operators; and a new product – a universal motion base – was introduced.
Lindsey Anderson, editor of Access, Lift & Handlers magazine, interviews Jim Colvin, CEO of Serious Labs, about the company’s technological advancements and how the global pandemic has changed the way training is delivered.
